Trail Guide FAQs Sheet "When does the school year actually start?" Answer: The 2026-2027 school year starts on August 12th (for all Kinder, 6th, & 9th graders) and August 13th for all other students. "We just moved here and don't have a PNM or Water bill in our name yet. What can I use?" Answer: No sweat! We can accept a signed housing contract from Holloman AFB, a rental lease agreement, or a purchase contract for your home. As long as it shows your name and physical address, you’re good to go. "Does my child have to be 4 years old right now to register for Pre-K?" Answer: Not today, but they must turn 4 years old on or before September 1, 2026, to ride the trail with our 4y Pre-K this year. "Does my child have to be 5 years old right now to register for Kindergarten?" Answer: Not today, but they must turn 5 years old before September 1, 2026, to ride the trail with our Kindergarteners this year. "I’m missing one of the required shots on the immunization record. Can I still register?" Answer: You can start the paperwork today! However, your buckaroo won't be able to attend class until the school nurse verifies that all state-required immunizations are complete or a valid New Mexico exemption is on file. "How do I find out if my child is eligible to ride the bus?" Answer: Visit the Transportation Table (or the APS website) to find important information about transportation, along with the link to download our My Ride K12 bus app. https://www.alamogordoschools.org/o/aps/page/transportation "Is there an after-school program for Pre-K and Kindergarten?" Answer: Many of our elementary schools partner with local programs or have on-site "After School Care." Ask the Trail Boss (Principal) for the specific options available at your campus. "My spouse is currently deployed/TDY. Can I sign all the forms myself?" Answer: Absolutely. As the legal guardian present, you can complete the registration. If there are specific power-of-attorney needs for emergency pickups later, just let the General Store staff know.
Parent Checklist-Howdy, Parent/Guardian! To officially "corral" your student into our system, please bring the following original documents to the Roundup: [ ] Proof of Age: Original birth certificate or certified copy. [ ] Shot Records: Up-to-date immunization records (NM State Law requires these for enrollment). [ ] Proof of Residency: Please provide a rental/mortgage agreement or a recent document in your name with an Alamogordo School District address. (Alamogordo, La Luz, High Rolls, Mountain Park, HAFB) Accepted documents include utility bills (water, gas, electric, internet, or cable), bank or credit card statements, insurance policies (auto, home, or health), paycheck stubs, tax filings, or a voter registration card. [ ] Parent/Guardian ID: A valid Driver’s License, State, or Military ID. [ ] Emergency Contacts: Please have the names and phone numbers of at least two local contacts ready. [ ] Legal Documents: If applicable, please bring any custody or guardianship papers. [ ] Records Release Form: Complete a Records Release Form to obtain records from a previous school district (if applicable). [ ] Medical Records: Any/all allergy and health forms (if applicable).

🌼April’s Be Here Alamo theme is Be Here & Bloom, reminding us that students grow a little more each day they are present, engaged, and ready to learn.

With state assessments taking place this month, consistent attendance helps students feel confident, prepared, and supported. Just as important as being present is being on time. Arriving late can cause students to miss important instructions and disrupt the start of their day.

Campuses open early each morning and offer free breakfast to all students. 🥞 Arriving early can help families avoid drop-off traffic, allow students to enjoy breakfast with their peers, and help them start the day in a calm, positive way. A Be Here & Bloom On-time Student Tracking Chart is available for families to download, and teachers have a classroom version available.
