Bio:
Hello, my name is Dawna Dupre; and I am the preschool administrator and the 504 administrator for the district.

To let you know a little about me, I was born in Albuquerque, and I am a native New Mexican. Besides New Mexico, I have lived in several other places from Green, Oregon to Detroit Michigan to White Sands Missile Range to Germany to England. I spent ten years in the bright lights and big city around Dallas, but I missed New Mexico’s mountains, beautiful blue skies, and sunsets, and I also missed the people. So, I moved back to New Mexico.

I am a proud graduate of Alamogordo High School. I am a home-grown Tiger. Besides my work in administration, I have fulfilled some other roles in education in our district in the past. I have previously worked as an educational diagnostician, an IEP facilitator, and a special education teacher. I began my professional career as a first-year teacher right here at Stepping Stones. It was called North Preschool back then.

I have three adult sons, but no grandchildren yet. My oldest son is married and works as an optician, my middle son has a steady girlfriend and works as a video editor for “Inside Edition,” and my youngest son is engaged and works for the food service company Canteen.

I enjoy reading nonfiction and fiction. I usually have about three books going at once. When one gets exciting, the others fall to the wayside. I play piano and the upright string bass. I like to plant flowers, shrubs, and trees in my yard; and I have a soft spot for funny memes.

As a former student of the Alamogordo Public Schools, I have a heart for this area. It is part of my mission and vision to support students and families. For me, working in education goes beyond being just a job. I want to work together with our staff and families to help students succeed to the greatest extent possible.
