A letter from our Principal
Welcome Parents and Students!
I would like to welcome you to Stepping Stones Pre-Kindergarten Center. My name is Dawna Dupre,
and I am the Preschool Administrator. I am proud to share that I was born in New Mexico, and I am a
graduate of Alamogordo High School. I received Master’s degrees from New Mexico State University
and the University of North Texas. As a former student of the Alamogordo Public Schools, I have a heart
for this area. I have also previously worked as an educational diagnostician and a special education
teacher.
At Stepping Stones, we strive to work with the families of our students. One of the first things you will
notice about our campus is our wonderful team. I feel so privileged to work with such a group of
individuals who care so passionately about the children of Alamogordo. We believe that strong family
engagement supports the development of our students. We want to partner with you in the journey of
your child’s development. We know a strong partnership with parents is the key to making the greatest
difference in your child’s education. We are thrilled to have your child in our program.
Stepping Stones is part of the voluntary New Mexico PreK program, which ensures that children in our
state have the opportunity to attend a high-quality early childhood education program before kindergarten.
The purpose of New Mexico PreK is to:
- Increase access to voluntary high-quality pre-kindergarten programs
- Provide developmentally appropriate activities for New Mexico children
- Expand early childhood community capacity
- Support linguistically and culturally appropriate curriculum
- Focus on school readiness
The wonderful Stepping Stones staff and I feel privileged to work with your children. The year will be
filled with numerous exciting learning experiences for them. We thank you for your support and look
forward to a wonderful year.
